Johnny Nash - who, for the record, has no connections to Christian fundamentalism

‘There are more questions than answers … And the more I find out, the less I know.’ Remember it? It’s a song that reminds me of that great BBC quiz I used to watch as a child, A Question of Sport, and the ‘guess the sport star’ round. I don’t really do popular culture on this blog (my friend Graham Peacock – just above me in the Wiki rankings – does it better here) but this song came to my mind one morning this week and it touched a nerve – a sad one at that.

Through Google I found that a Johnny Nash sang the version I’m referring to. Ironically he also sang ‘I can see clearly now the rain has gone’ – man, was that guy mixed up! Anyway, you can enjoy his version above.

There is, of course, a deep theological purpose in including it here today – it reflects where I’m up to in my whole journey – with church, doctrine, etc., etc. There are more questions than answers. There is a mystery about a lot of what we believe. And that’s how God probably meant it to be. Christian fundamentalism's certainty is not such a good thing – it’s merely today’s Babel.
