Adam and Israel

Posted by Dyfed on Friday, April 13, 2012 In : Bible

It's been a while … but in my last post on Genesis 1-11 I said that some believe that, far from being the literal, historical truth about the first ever human couple, Adam and Eve represent the beginning of Israel. I want to sketch out a little more on this idea today.

The key to taking this line is to understand when Genesis - and much of the Old Testament - was written. Tradition had it that the Pentateuch - the first five books of the Bible - was written by Moses thus placing it right at ...

At the start of the year Helen had a strong sense that she should be preaching on the change of seasons. Today I am stepping into a very different season in my own working life as it is the first day in my new job working in the translation unit of the Countryside Council for Wales. It is a part time post, working every afternoon.

Praxis

We have had a sense for a while that we should be doing more in terms of 'tent-making' and as regular readers will be aware I have been blogging through Pagan ...
